STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER "STAFFY" TRAINING THROUGHOUT YORKSHIRE
Training your Staffordshire bull terrier good manners is of vital importance if you want to prevent him from being branded unfairly as a dangerous dog. The breed is boisterous and very loving but this needs controlling. Without control, it can lead to problems. The Staffie has an undeserved reputation and Leeds Dog School have successfully trained them over many years.
Staffys were born from the dark days of bull-baiting and dog fighting. They were bred primarily by coal miners in Staffordshire. The practice of bull baiting was intended to tenderize meat, but later it became a popular sport. The miners wanted to breed a dog that was small and fast so they bred Bulldogs with small terriers.
STAFFY OBEDIENCE TRAINING
Obedience training is especial vital for Staffordshire Bull terrier your dog.Having an obedient Staffy makes ownership of your pet an absolute pleasure! At Leeds Dog School we will train your dog to a high level in obedience. We also believe that this should involve the owner at every stage and so our training is one to one with you and your dog. It’s important that your dog obeys your commands and we work with you until you are confident in controlling your dog.
Owners with obedient pets get more satisfaction and have a stronger bond with their pet.
A well-trained Staffie is safer to have around family and friends, and is at a lower risk than an uncontrollable dog. Your Staffie must come back when it’s called to avoid problms with other dogs and people.

STOPPING BAD BEHAVIOUR BY YOUR STAFFORDSHIRE
Some trainers believe that giving a dog treats is the best way to train but in our opinion relying on treats exclusively just does not work particularly with a Staffy. Your dog may learn how behave but only does it at because there's a treat at the end of it and many times treats just stop working. Essentially you are bribing the dog to behave properly. Our Staffordshire dog training solves problems with bad behaviour as this is our speciality. Many of the problems are very common and we work with your dog and just as importantly, with you at your home or on a walk, to solve any problems you may have.
- Stop pulling on the lead
- Stop lunging at other dogs
- Stop barking at dogs & people
- Stop jumping up at people
- Stop aggression
- Stop running away and not returning
- Stop constant barking
WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY
Ruth came round today to help with my two rescue dogs that wouldn’t stop barking when they saw other dogs, they also had a tendency to pull on the lead. Ruth spent an hour with us and by the end it was like we had two completely different dogs, she controlled the barking and no more pulling on the lead! Anyone looking for a dog trainer I highly recommend these guys they are amazing! Thanks again 🙂Natalie Stewart 20 Jan 2020
Ruth came out to our home tonight to help with some basic obedience training for our 11 week old minature schnauzer. As a result of the 1 hour Ruth spent with us, we are more confident dog parents. We now have tools to manage our pups mischief and will be able to solidify his crate training. Ruth explained everything in a really easy to understand way, we are really happy and will certainly call on the dog school again if we need behavioural support further down the line.Emma Slater 01 Jan 2020
Rob came over today to help us out with our 7 month old Border Collie who barked non- stop whenever someone came to our house. Within 30 minutes, he'd shown us the simple techniques to put us back into control. Rob is a credit to dog trainers - he has so much passion for his job, which must not even feel like work to him as he can just wants to pass on his knowledge. Thanks so muchAlan Simpkins 31 Dec 2019
Highly recommend Leeds School of Dogs! Had Rob visit our home today after struggling to train our year old bull dog and struggling with aggression we saw huge results within the hour! Rob was very informative making sure we could carry out the training once he had left, leaving us lots of resources to carry on our own training. Worth every penny would recommend to anyone!Catherine Taylor 21 Dec 2019
We had Ruth out today to visit with our Rottie pup and in particular his biting. She was fantastic and definitely money well spent. Can’t believe the change in a day. There are so many conflicting viewpoints available online its hard to workout the best way to do things, having Ruth and Leeds dog school in took this away and give us a clear positive path to follow.James wilson 04 Dec 2019
Would recommend to all new owners!
Highly recommend Leeds dog school! Ruth came out a couple weeks ago to help us with our Rottweiler puppy and she was amazing!! It has helped us so much to make sure we are bringing him up the right way. Ruth and Rob called in last night as a call back to make sure we felt comfortable and doing everything right! Very easy to deal with and always there if we need help!! Really couldn’t recommend them enough 🙂Becky McDonald 04 Dec 2019
We had a very productive first session with Rob today, he obviously loves his dogs and made great progress with Flo, our very anxious 3 year old doberlady. We are looking forward to continuing to implement Rob’s techniques, which he explained and persevered with us until we understood what we need to do and why. Looking forward to having a calm confident gorgeous girl. The back-up video links and service is great.Carole Bambrough-Oates 20 Nov 2019
Just finished my first session with Rob who was extremely knowledgable and passionate. Within 15 minutes he showed me how I can stop my German Shepherd barking and lunging at the door when someone knocks. Lots of practical, sensible strategies to use with Bella before we meet again next week. Rob made everything logical and clear, has good breed knowledge and left me with links to recommended videos on a range of training techniques and scenarios. Would highly recommend Rob and Leeds Dog School to anyone who is looking for balanced, effective training methods to use with their dog.Keith Bothamley 19 Nov 2019
Ruth came to our house today to help us with our 6 month old jack Russell cross, Albert. He had been bullying the cat, ignoring his name when called, getting distracted by other dogs whilst out on his walks, and generally trying to rule the roost. Ruth demonstrated some amazing techniques and Albert responded really well after just one visit. I can not recommend Leeds Dog School, and Ruth, enough. Absolutely fantastic.Amanda Blamires 14 Nov 2019
