Pontefract Dog Training school offer training in Pontefract and surrounding districts with our dog training and puppy training. Our training is based at your home or on a walk near your home
At Pontefract Dog Training School we specialise in training dogs and puppies with behaviour problems and our 1-2-1 training in your home produces results quickly. Our trainer Rob Dye teaches you how control and give you the tools do it. Our unique approach produces results quickly and without the owner having to go to classes.
Training the owner is just as important as training the dog or puppy!
Many trainers believe that giving a dog treats is the best way to train but in our opinion relying on treats exclusively just does not work. Your dog learns how behave but only does it at because ther's a treat at the end of it. Essentially you are bribing the dog to behave properly. Treats can be used to reward good behaviour not to entice your dog to behave properly.
We use correction and reward and eventually treats can be phased out and a simple show of affection to your dog when it behaves properly is all that’s needed.
Rob Dye’s training is based on his ten years experience and knowledge gained from working with some of the best dog trainers in the world.
Training your dog in obedience is fun for your dog and fun for you. Pontefract dog training teach all the basic commands such as "sit" and "down" as well as focused heeling and much more.
The video shows just what we can achieve. Of course, it's just as important for the owner to be able to achieve the same results so Rob Dye ensures that you are confident with the commands so that you follow up with the training.
Training a your puppy should start as soon as possible. Pontefract dog training gives the right foundations from the start. We do not do classes as frankly, we feel that one to one with your new dog is much more effective and quicker. Your puppy will not be distracted by other puppies and we are able to work with you exclusively so that you can follow up the training.
WE COVER ALL PONTEFRACT AND SURROUNDINGS
Our Pontefract Dog training comes to your home and works with you and your dog on a one to one basis. His objective is to sort out any problems you may be having and to show you how to to stop the problem. If your dog is being trained in obedience this will involve going on a walk with you and your dog and showing you how to give your dog the commands.
PLACES TO WALK YOUR DOG IN YORKSHIRE
Many towns do not allow dogs to walk off the lead.
This understandable but but allowing your dog the freedom to run off the lead is great fun for your dog.
Obviously, being able to recall your dog is very important and this is one area that we focus on in our dog training.
Once this is achieved, luckily, there are some really good places where your dog can be allowed to run free in Yorkshire. Take a look at https://dogwalksyorkshire.com/

Rob came round with relatively short notice. We have just introduced a new 9 week old puppy into the house, who just wanted to be all over our older dog. After a short period of time, Rob taught us some new techniques for helping to set some new rules for the puppy and the difference has already been massive. We will be calling on Rob again, when we are able to take the dog out in public. Thanks again, RossRoss Nadin 11 Dec 2018
Just had our first session, so impressed with how it has gone! The hour started with our 6 month old GSD ripping a hole in Rob's jumper and ended with a calm puppy. Just successfully mopped the living room floor with a spectator rather than "helper". Looking forward to the next session. Thanks so much!Freya Shaw 20 Nov 2018
I contacted Leeds Dog School for help in controlling our Labrador's incessant and aggressive barking at anyone who comes to the house. It had reached the point where my own mother has stopped visiting because of the din my dog makes. Rob came out and showed us a very simple technique which worked immediately and is easy for the whole family to implement and commit to. I would recommend Leeds Dog School for any of your dog's issues that need putting right.Leach Ann-Marie 19 Nov 2018
Had our first session today with Rob. It's not rocket science what you learn, it's sensible and practice lessons in dog behaviour. We love our 2 year old black Labrador, but he runs rings around us, and we are too soft. Not anymore, Rob has show us how to gain control and correct Finley. So we have less stress with our dog. Looking forward to the next session.Tracey Oliver 30 Oct 2018
Rob came to our house to help us with our 5 year old Doberman. In less than 15 minutes he had stopped her barking when people came to the door. We've seen a massive improvement in her behaviour already since he came and can't wait for him to come back to help us tackle her response to joggers, cyclists, etc.Pat Mangion 14 Oct 2018
Saw Rob yesterday for the first time. On the phone I was advised that it would take one short lesson to get my Miniature Schnauzer to become obedient. Naturally, I thought 'yeah, right!'. The main problems were him barking at people who were walking past the garden and barking at other dogs and people on walks. Rob sorted these issues with ease.....how wrong was I!Phillip Barnard 03 Oct 2018
Brilliant time spent with Rob who has helped make a massive difference with our cockerpoo puppy Reggie - who can be pretty bonkers at times. Rob sorted issues we were having with him straight away! It was amazing how obidiant Reggie became so quickly. Rob was really lovely, and worth every penny!! I would hugely recommend Rob and the Leeds Dog School.Megan Howard 23 Sep 2018
We met Rob today with our very difficult rescue Saluki. Rob was positive and reassuring and we saw an immediate improvement with Casper. We know there is work to continue with but we are confident that we have made that elusive, important first step. Would wholeheartedly recommend Robs' services to anyone struggling with an aggressive dog.James Parry 04 Sep 2018
