Many owners are find it very stressful when they take their dog or puppy for a walk or when visitors come to their home. The common problems are pulling on the lead, running away when off the lead and just refusing to come back, and lunging at other dogs. In the home the bad behaviour includes jumping up at visitors, barking, and sometimes nipping!

The basic problem is that owner has not got the right tools and techniques to stop this bad behaviour and the dog is taking control.

Leeds Dog training puts the owner in control!

What problem dog behaviour do you deal with

If your dog is, jumping up at people or you, stealing food, destructive, running out of the door,  barking constantly, aggressive to humans or dogs and more … you need home 1-2-1 home training. Two hours is usually enough to cure most problems because we train you to take control and then you don’t need us anymore.

What areas of Yorkshire do you cover

We train throughout Yorkshire. We come to your home wherever you live in Yorkshire and work with you and your dog or puppy on a 1-2-1 basis.

What breeds do you train

We train all breeds of dog from "designer" dogs such as the cockapoo or labradoodle through to working dogs such as spaniels and terriers. We also specialise in larger dogs such as German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans, all Mastiffs.

My dog is terrible when I go for a walk can you help

Pulling on the lead , running away and refusing to return, and barking and lunging at other dogs  are the most common problems we deal with. We go for a walk with you and we always choose a busy park and usually stop this in an hour.

What training methods do you use

Unlike some trainers, we only use “treats” in some circumstances particularly with high level obedience training. They are over used and eventually do not work with problem behaviour. Our method is correction and then reward with praise. Enticing or “bribing” a dog is counter-productive and they soon spot how to manipulate the situation. The most important training, however, is the owner training so that you can control your dog.

Do you have puppy classes

The short answer is NO. We simply do not think they work. There are too a many puppies and they just want to play with each other and are totally distracted. The owners cannot possibly get individual attention in an hour with 8 or 10 or more people in a class. We only offer 1-2-1 puppy training in your home because it’s quicker, more effective, and cheaper!

A disobedient dog can make your life a misery. Having had ten years experience in dog training, our Leeds Training School trainer  Rob Dye works with you and your dog to ensure your dog is highly obedient. Most importantly, he shows you how to keep it up because training the owner is just as important as training your dog.

Heel Work – dog will be taught to walk to heel on the lead without pulling.
Heel Work – dog will be taught to walk to heel off the lead ignoring other dogs.
Recall - Your dog will return to you when called.
Down – dog will be taught to “down” on command and remain in this position until released.
Down – Your dog will ignore other dogs when in the "down".
Sit – dog will sit at the owner’s side as soon as they stop moving without a command.
Come – dog will come to the owner in the “frontal sit” position.

Training a your puppy should start as soon as possible. Leeds Dog Training School ensures the right foundations . We do not do classes as frankly, we feel that one to one with your new dog is much more effective and quicker. Your puppy will not be distracted by other puppies and we are able to work with you exclusively so that you can follow up the training.

We train you so you can train your puppy!

Toilet Training - we will show you the easiest way to toilet train your puppy

Rob came round with relatively short notice. We have just introduced a new 9 week old puppy into the house, who just wanted to be all over our older dog. After a short period of time, Rob taught us some new techniques for helping to set some new rules for the puppy and the difference has already been massive. We will be calling on Rob again, when we are able to take the dog out in public.

    Thanks again, Ross

We called Rob to help us with our 16month old mini schnauzer who constantly barked at other dogs and jumped up at people. Within 10 mins of meeting him there was already a change and now 4 days later we have a completely different dog! Walkies are a lot more enjoyable now

Had this guy in my house less than 5 minutes and he had my 8 month old Labrador x Akita listening to what we said and also stopped her jumping up and chewing her lead. Absolutely amazing will definitely recommend him to anyone who need a dog trainer.

Just had our first session, so impressed with how it has gone! The hour started with our 6 month old GSD ripping a hole in Rob's jumper and ended with a calm puppy. Just successfully mopped the living room floor with a spectator rather than "helper". Looking forward to the next session. Thanks so much!

Amazing dog trainer! Saw a massive difference in my dogs behaviour within minutes of him being there. All she needed was 1 session! Where as other trainers said at least 5! Highly recommend for sure.

Thank you so much for helping roxy.

I contacted Leeds Dog School for help in controlling our Labrador's incessant and aggressive barking at anyone who comes to the house. It had reached the point where my own mother has stopped visiting because of the din my dog makes. Rob came out and showed us a very simple technique which worked immediately and is easy for the whole family to implement and commit to. I would recommend Leeds Dog School for any of your dog's issues that need putting right.

Had our first session today with Rob. It's not rocket science what you learn, it's sensible and practice lessons in dog behaviour. We love our 2 year old black Labrador, but he runs rings around us, and we are too soft. Not anymore, Rob has show us how to gain control and correct Finley. So we have less stress with our dog. Looking forward to the next session.

Rob came to our house to help us with our 5 year old Doberman. In less than 15 minutes he had stopped her barking when people came to the door. We've seen a massive improvement in her behaviour already since he came and can't wait for him to come back to help us tackle her response to joggers, cyclists, etc.

Rob was able to quickly demonstrate the techniques we had been lacking to get both our spaniel and wire haired pointer to walk to heel. A very simple yet effective correction that has solved 3 years of problem behaviour on the lead.

Very knowledgeable, highly recommend Rob! Sorted my 1 year old Frenchie out within the first 10/15 minutes of being with him, felt like i had a completely new dog. Looking forward to the next session!!

Saw Rob yesterday for the first time. On the phone I was advised that it would take one short lesson to get my Miniature Schnauzer to become obedient. Naturally, I thought 'yeah, right!'. The main problems were him barking at people who were walking past the garden and barking at other dogs and people on walks. Rob sorted these issues with ease.....how wrong was I!

He helped me with my 2yr old boxer girl who didn't have the best recall and she was easily destracted when out in open space. He got it sorted so I highly recommend and worthy of the 5 stars

Brilliant time spent with Rob who has helped make a massive difference with our cockerpoo puppy Reggie - who can be pretty bonkers at times. Rob sorted issues we were having with him straight away! It was amazing how obidiant Reggie became so quickly. Rob was really lovely, and worth every penny!! I would hugely recommend Rob and the Leeds Dog School.

We met Rob today with our very difficult rescue Saluki. Rob was positive and reassuring and we saw an immediate improvement with Casper. We know there is work to continue with but we are confident that we have made that elusive, important first step. Would wholeheartedly recommend Robs' services to anyone struggling with an aggressive dog.
