We called Leeds Dog School for help with our 9 month old Boston Staffie cross we were struggling to walk him as he pulled constantly on the lead, we also needed help with him jumping all over us when we came home or when we were sat on the sofa trying to watch the TV. Ruth came to visit us and taught us how to deal with Reggie jumping up at everyone and within minutes it was clear to see that this was working. Ruth also came with us for a walk and taught us how to stop Reggie pulling like a train I am so pleased as I can now walk Reggie without being pulled all over. I would highly recommend Leeds Dog School if you are struggling with your pooch
Ruth is amazing, she has given us the best advice on walking our two rescue terridoodles aged 11 months. I used to cross over the road and avoid other people and dogs but now I am more confident and proud to go exploring with them. We had so much advice from other dog owners but none of it worked for us. Within the session with Ruth we had learned so much and was able to practice and get it right! I'm so pleased to have met Ruth and to be giving my dogs a second chance in a forever home.
Patch, our newly adopted rescue springador, did not take to my husband John at all, barking and growling as soon as he appeared and then running away into another room. Rob's techniques gave an immediate and sustained improvement and the relationship is now good. Time for 'walkies' training next and looking forward to Rob's input again.
We rescued our dog in May and he became very aggressive within a few weeks, he's bitten us a number of times, we had training with a previous trainer and didn't seem to work, Rob came around and within half an hour had shown our dog he was boss and taught us how to become the boss! We don't need any other sessions but we are going to book some others to progress further!
We met Rob today with our very difficult rescue Saluki. Rob was positive and reassuring and we saw an immediate improvement with Casper. We know there is work to continue with but we are confident that we have made that elusive, important first step today and are enormously relieved and impressed. Would wholeheartedly recommend Robs' services to anyone struggling with an aggressive dog.
Just had our session with Rob helping us with our rescue Staffy 'Maisy'. Maisy would pull on the lead and lunge at other dogs. Rob has shown us a number of techniques that has completely changed her behavior in almost minutes.Rob has given us all the tools we need moving forward and will call on Leeds Dog School again if needed!

STOPPING BAD BEHAVIOUR FROM DAY ONE!
It’s tempting to put your Rescue dog’s bad behaviour down to its bad experience and tolerate barking, biting, pulling on the lead, and aggression for a time. This is not acceptable and unless these behaviour are not dealt with quickly your life will be a misery. Your dog needs stability and training and a routine provides this
ONE TO ONE BEHAVIOUR TRAINING
At Leeds Dog School we train your Rescue dog and you! We believe that one to one training with you and your dog at your home is the best way of training and stopping dog bad behaviour. This allows us to concentrate on your specific problems. All this means that you can follow up our training and make sure your dog does not slip back into its old ways.
It's vital to get them on the right track as soon as possible. Dogs learn quickly what behaviour is acceptable but they have to be taught.
We visit your home and we will go for a walk with you and your dog or puppy to ensure that you know exactly how to correct bad behaviour and to reward good behaviour. Ignoring dog bad behaviour is wrong it should always be corrected when behaving badly and only good behaviour should be rewarded.
RUNNING AWAY AND WILL NOT COME BACK
Poor recall is probably the most common dog bad behaviour that we come across. It makes it almost impossible to let your dog or puppy off the lead on a walk. The owner is constantly anxious that it will simply ignore them. We can teach you a few techniques that solve this and make going for a walk a pleasure.
PULLING ON THE LEAD
Pulling on the lead is uncomfortable for you and the for your dog. Most dogs unless properly trained are likely to pull on the lead and this makes going for a walk an unpleasant experience. Owners have often been advised to buy a harness. We do not recommend them unless you want your dog trained to pull a sledge like a husky! Similarly, choke chains are positively dangerous. We offer a number of methods which solve this permanently and easily.
JUMPING UP AT PEOPLE AT HOME OR ON A WALK
Our objective in dog training is to train our clients to control their dog or puppy. We are training the owner almost as much as the dog or puppy. Until you have the right techniques jumping up will always be a problem. Once your dog realises that you are in charge, this kind of behaviour stops. We will teach you the simple techniques quickly and easily.
Aggression in a dog whether to other dogs or to people is totally unacceptable. We have to teach our clients to be assertive and to know how to correct the dog to prevent aggression happening in the first place. Our training is not theoretical but practical and we give you practical techniques to take control.
LEEDS DOG SCHOOL STOP DOG BAD BEHAVIOUR
YOU CANNOT STOP BAD BEHAVIOUR WITH A TREAT-IT DOES NOT WORK!
Some trainers believe that giving a dog treats is the best way to train but in our opinion relying on treats exclusively just does not work. Your dog may learn how behave but only does it at because there's a treat at the end of it and many times treats just stop working. Essentially you are bribing the dog to behave properly. Bad behaviour by a dog makes an owner’s life a misery. Our dog training solves problems with bad behaviour as this is our speciality. Many of the problems are very common and we work with your dog and just as importantly, with you at your home or on a walk, to solve the problems.

Our 6yr old Jack Russell Cross, had started to display aggressive tendencies on the lead to passers by and some others dogs but was fine off the lead. We had started to get really stressed about taking him for walks as living semi-urban we often have to get passed lots of people to get to open spaces.Zoe Towers 22 Feb 2021
Immediately Ollie showed us how to get Oscar back under control and us back in charge and take the emotion out of the walk. We now have to practise but I just feel so relieved that we can now walk Oscar stress free again after just one session. Ollie had also sent us lots of You Tube videos to study and is there for any future questions.
Fantastic results with my Dobermann pup 'Judah' being trained with Rob and Issac for the last four weeks. I am astonished at how much has been achieved in such a short period of time. This was Issac's first major project and all credit to Robs training technique what an amazing job you have done! Thank you all, Jack, Ollie, Rob and Issac for producing an amazing pup. See you soon for round 2. All the best, Jeff Evans.Jeff evans 14 Feb 2021
Ollie came to us this week to help us with a very over playful Boxer puppy ! Our dog Max took US for a walk rather than the other way around 😂 Ollie showed us the right techniques and helped us to understand what we were doing wrong, after just one session Max is like a totally different dog! We can not thank Ollie enough for what he has done in such a short time THANKS AGAIN DANIELLE AND BEN (and of course Max )charlotte thomas 13 Feb 2021
We would highly recommend Leeds Dog School! Our trainer Ollie was fantastic with our pup Otis and we saw an instant change in his ability to walk to heel on a loose lead and being able to walk past another dog without reaction! It’s great they come to see you in your home and go on a walk with you so they understand the issues you may be facing. Overall a fantastic experience and we feel so reassured and confident with the advice we have been given and we know if we have any questions we can contact Ollie to support us further 🙂Robert Gidman 05 Feb 2021
I had one lesson with Ollie yesterday to address our bull terrier’s pulling on the lead. Her reaction was like a miracle. I have been out on walk with her today, practiced the technique I’ve been told to do and she’s like a new dog. I have not returned home drowned in sweat and absolutely tired after first time ever. It’s amazing what seeing someone else controlling your dog can do to your way of thinking and confidence with controlling your dog. Thank you.Marika Calvert 05 Feb 2021
Ollie was great with my 16 week rottweiler. From the moment he came in to when he left was very informative & confident which is always reassuring. He’s kept in contact and provided me with much more content and information regarding the subjects we spoke about. Highly recommendConor Good 02 Dec 2020
Oliver was brilliant in helping us with our new dog who is a professional at escaping from the lead and refusing to go for walks. Oliver has helped give our confidence back and now Jake is walking to heal! We are amazed! Thank you Oliver we can now enjoy walks once again! NicolaNicola Lunn 24 Nov 2020
My Jack Russell Terrier Bubbles was pulling on her walks and aggressive to other dogs after one session she walks nicely and during the session was able walk nicely past another dog. Ollie gave me some great tips and on our next walk I could already see the improvements. I would absolutely recommend the Leeds Dog School for any training requirements.Karlene Arewa 27 Oct 2020
Ollie was brilliant he came and helped us with our 7 month old English Bull Terrier Edward who was pulling on the lead and pulling to other dogs and jumping up. He took us out with Edward and showed us how to stop the pulling and correct his behaviour. He was extremely helpful with the information he told us including what collar was best to use and train him. Definitely recommend 🙂Victoria Ferguson 18 Oct 2020
We contacted Leeds Dog School as our 2yr old male German Shepherd was pulling on the lead and very very reactive to other dogs. We hadn't had the dog too long so no idea on his past history. Steve stayed for over 3 hrs on his first visit and managed to get my dog walking along side his own which was amazing. However, my dog reverted back to his old ways despite using the correct technique so Steve came back a few week later.. We didn't make any further progress on that occasion so Steve suggested we go to see Rob for further help. We visited Rob who helped us sort out the situation on the day. However my dog is still reactive to other dogs and we are continuing to work on this. I have found Steve and Rob to be very helpful and genuinely want us to succeed to sort our issues out. They have both offered to assist further if we need it which I find reassuring. To me this is over and beyond what a lot of trainers would do. Thanks Guys.MsFive0 14 Oct 2020
Rob & Ollie are fantastic. We have a Patterdale Terrier who is 13 months and from 8 weeks old we have been training our dog. At 8 months our dog started doing what he wanted, jumping up at and nipping people, the trainer we were using was no help at all, with the methods he was using. At 11 months my wife wanted rid of the dog until we met Rob and Ollie. Ollie came to the house for an hour and our dog was a different animal, 4 weeks later our daughter wanted some additional guidance. So we had a second visit to refine what we were doing. Rob did the training this time and within less than a minute had our dog doing what he wanted. Rob then spent time with us to go through what we were doing wrong. He showed us how to stop our dog from barking at other dog and houses when out and to walk to heel without pulling. Unlike other trainers they do not turn up in a brand new vehicle with all the fancy trimmings, what they do is show you how to train your dog to do what you want it to do. They don't rip you off and will tell you if you are wasting your money, they don't want you to sign up to weeks and weeks of training or into a training pack. What they did for us in 2 hours was unbelievable, all you have to do is listen to what they tell you and be consistent with your dog, Thanks Rob and OllieMatthew Hird 12 Oct 2020
Ollie came round and showed us a tremendous number of techniques to improve our dobermann pup's behaviour including walking to heel, recall, correcting bad behaviour such as jumping up and picking up objects. Picked up a lot of valuable insight and practical advice and our dog enjoyed learning an impressive amount of knowledge in such a short space of time. Definitely recommended and we will be working with these guys again in the future.Joseph Egglestone 09 Oct 2020
I cannot express how fantastic Rob is! I will recommend them to everyone who has a dog, words cannot describe what a difference their advice has made to our lives and our lovely pups.Sarah Smith 07 Oct 2020
You will not regret booking in with them, they are incredible value for money and more effective than any classes or online lessons I've tried.
Rob was great he came and seen me and my 5 year old American staffy pulled badly on the lead and would be aggressive to other dogs but an afternoon with Rob sorted it all out!! the way he trains and understands dogs was awesome he really shows you in detail how to correct the behaviours and how manage your dog. Went over and above to make sure I was confident overall 10 out of 10 trainer and person!!Rhyse Martin 29 Sep 2020
