STOPPING BAD BEHAVIOUR FROM DAY ONE!
It’s tempting to put your Rescue dog’s bad behaviour down to its bad experience and tolerate barking, biting, pulling on the lead, and aggression for a time. This is not acceptable and unless these behaviour are not dealt with quickly your life will be a misery. Your dog needs stability and training and a routine provides this
ONE TO ONE BEHAVIOUR TRAINING
At Leeds Dog School we train your Rescue dog and you! We believe that one to one training with you and your dog at your home is the best way of training and stopping dog bad behaviour. This allows us to concentrate on your specific problems. All this means that you can follow up our training and make sure your dog does not slip back into its old ways.
It's vital to get them on the right track as soon as possible. Dogs learn quickly what behaviour is acceptable but they have to be taught.
We visit your home and we will go for a walk with you and your dog or puppy to ensure that you know exactly how to correct bad behaviour and to reward good behaviour. Ignoring dog bad behaviour is wrong it should always be corrected when behaving badly and only good behaviour should be rewarded.
RUNNING AWAY AND WILL NOT COME BACK
Poor recall is probably the most common dog bad behaviour that we come across. It makes it almost impossible to let your dog or puppy off the lead on a walk. The owner is constantly anxious that it will simply ignore them. We can teach you a few techniques that solve this and make going for a walk a pleasure.
PULLING ON THE LEAD
Pulling on the lead is uncomfortable for you and the for your dog. Most dogs unless properly trained are likely to pull on the lead and this makes going for a walk an unpleasant experience. Owners have often been advised to buy a harness. We do not recommend them unless you want your dog trained to pull a sledge like a husky! Similarly, choke chains are positively dangerous. We offer a number of methods which solve this permanently and easily.
JUMPING UP AT PEOPLE AT HOME OR ON A WALK
Our objective in dog training is to train our clients to control their dog or puppy. We are training the owner almost as much as the dog or puppy. Until you have the right techniques jumping up will always be a problem. Once your dog realises that you are in charge, this kind of behaviour stops. We will teach you the simple techniques quickly and easily.
Aggression in a dog whether to other dogs or to people is totally unacceptable. We have to teach our clients to be assertive and to know how to correct the dog to prevent aggression happening in the first place. Our training is not theoretical but practical and we give you practical techniques to take control.
LEEDS DOG SCHOOL STOP DOG BAD BEHAVIOUR
Some trainers believe that giving a dog treats is the best way to train but in our opinion relying on treats exclusively just does not work. Your dog may learn how behave but only does it at because there's a treat at the end of it and many times treats just stop working. Essentially you are bribing the dog to behave properly.Bad behaviour by a dog makes an owner’s life a misery. Our dog training solves problems with bad behaviour as this is our speciality. Many of the problems are very common and we work with your dog and just as importantly, with you at your home or on a walk, to solve the problems.

LARGE DOG TRAINING
WORKING DOG TRAINING

SOME OF THE WORKING DOGS WE TRAIN
If your dog is, jumping up at people or you, stealing food, destructive, running out of the door, barking constantly, aggressive to humans or dogs and more … you need home 1-2-1 home training. Two hours is usually enough to cure most problems because we train you to take control and then you don’t need us anymore.
We train throughout Yorkshire. We come to your home wherever you live in Yorkshire and work with you and your dog or puppy on a 1-2-1 basis.
We train all breeds of dog from "designer" dogs such as the cockapoo or labradoodle through to working dogs such as spaniels and terriers. We also specialise in larger dogs such as German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans, all Mastiffs.
Pulling on the lead , running away and refusing to return, and barking and lunging at other dogs are the most common problems we deal with. We go for a walk with you and we always choose a busy park and usually stop this in an hour.
Unlike some trainers, we only use “treats” in some circumstances particularly with high level obedience training. They are over used and eventually do not work with problem behaviour. Our method is correction and then reward with praise. Enticing or “bribing” a dog is counter-productive and they soon spot how to manipulate the situation. The most important training, however, is the owner training so that you can control your dog.
The short answer is NO. We simply do not think they work. There are too a many puppies and they just want to play with each other and are totally distracted. The owners cannot possibly get individual attention in an hour with 8 or 10 or more people in a class. We only offer 1-2-1 puppy training in your home because it’s quicker, more effective, and cheaper!

Today we had a first visit from Rob to train our Flat Coated Retriever Mack. Within the first 5 minutes Rob had unbelievably changed his behaviour of barking and jumping up and mounting. Mack was also obedient and calm. With his expert guidance of both Mack and us as his owners ,we are thrilled with the incredible results so far . We are so pleased that we contacted Rob.Paul Talkington 03 Jul 2019
Ruth came to see us to help stop our 8 week old puppy from biting our hands and feet. In just 1 hour she showed us a really helpful correction technique that he is gradually responding very well to. Ruth was happy to talk through any other issues/aspects and gave us great advice and support overall. Many thanks Ruth and Leeds Dog School, I am sure we'll be calling on you for help again in the near future!Sophie Abbott 20 Jun 2019
Thank you so much Rob for being so kind and patient with helping us with Kiwi and her bad behaviours around jumping and barking. I was gobsmacked how quickly you were able to train both us and her. Chuffed to bits thank u so much and we’ll continue with the tools you’ve provided us with.Juliette Beacher 07 Jun 2019
A gentleman called Rob came out to us today to rid our 3 month old German Shepheard of his bad behaviour. Myself and my partner were really struggling with the dog as he was very defiant which was causing a lot of stress in the household. However the method we were shown today has proven to be extremely positive and actually works as our dog has changed in a matter of an hour. We are so happy we chose this company as the results are amazing all we can say is thank you and we will definitely be using them again for on and off lead walking.Chelsey Greenwood 01 Jun 2019
I couldn’t recommend Rob and his team highly enough. Rob came to see us a little while ago to help us with our 5 month old Labrador who was being overly boisterous when meeting people and playing. Within minutes she was drastically better and the results have continued to be great! Rob gave us tips for the future on how to overcome potential issues down the road and they have really helped.James Brassington 30 May 2019
Just had my second dog training session with rob and just like the first session it went amazing. For 6 months my 3 Doberman’s have been dragging me around the streets and no matter wot advice I’d been given in the past non of it worked 😩 after just 2 minutes with rob my dog was walking in harmony 🤗 I couldn’t believe it finally I can take my dogs for a walk rather than they take me for a spin. Thank you rob you are amazing xxxBridie Murphy 30 May 2019

We have had dogs for over 20 years and never needed to call in a trainer before but the aggression our 4 year old rescue Doberman was showing was getting out of hand. When Rob came, he instantly assessed our dog ( and us ) and gave us a simple but very affective method to correct this behaviour. It worked practically immediately and has continued to work in the days after. Hopefully we won’t need Rob again as he has given us the tools to control our very adorable but feisty dog, but we wouldn’t hesitate to call on him again.thanks Rob ( and Ruth) Vicki, Ian and Stan xxxVicki Tams 17 Mar 2019
Can’t believe the change in our dog in less than half an hour my dog stopped his constant barking best nights sleep in 5 weeks since we got Ernie. No more stress for us and Ernie he is like a different dog, my partner came home from been away a couple of days and could not believe the difference Ying and Yang. I would recommend Rob to anyone life changing !!!Annette Cullingworth 15 Mar 2019
I met Rob for the first time today with my 9 month old lab . I was a bit sceptical has ave been through lots of training sessions with various trainers and not much success. Rob was straight talking, no nonsense and extremely knowledgeable. He had my lab walking with him, obedient and showing him respect within minutes, something I had been trying months to do. With his guidance and training (within the session ) I took Jess on a walk later in the day, following his techniques and advice I had the best walk ever! No lunging or pulling ! Exciting to develop on this and then looking forward to booking in another session for recall . Thank you !Amy Robers 09 Mar 2019
