We called Leeds Dog School for help with our 9 month old Boston Staffie cross we were struggling to walk him as he pulled constantly on the lead, we also needed help with him jumping all over us when we came home or when we were sat on the sofa trying to watch the TV. Ruth came to visit us and taught us how to deal with Reggie jumping up at everyone and within minutes it was clear to see that this was working. Ruth also came with us for a walk and taught us how to stop Reggie pulling like a train I am so pleased as I can now walk Reggie without being pulled all over. I would highly recommend Leeds Dog School if you are struggling with your pooch
Ruth is amazing, she has given us the best advice on walking our two rescue terridoodles aged 11 months. I used to cross over the road and avoid other people and dogs but now I am more confident and proud to go exploring with them. We had so much advice from other dog owners but none of it worked for us. Within the session with Ruth we had learned so much and was able to practice and get it right! I'm so pleased to have met Ruth and to be giving my dogs a second chance in a forever home.
Patch, our newly adopted rescue springador, did not take to my husband John at all, barking and growling as soon as he appeared and then running away into another room. Rob's techniques gave an immediate and sustained improvement and the relationship is now good. Time for 'walkies' training next and looking forward to Rob's input again.
We rescued our dog in May and he became very aggressive within a few weeks, he's bitten us a number of times, we had training with a previous trainer and didn't seem to work, Rob came around and within half an hour had shown our dog he was boss and taught us how to become the boss! We don't need any other sessions but we are going to book some others to progress further!
We met Rob today with our very difficult rescue Saluki. Rob was positive and reassuring and we saw an immediate improvement with Casper. We know there is work to continue with but we are confident that we have made that elusive, important first step today and are enormously relieved and impressed. Would wholeheartedly recommend Robs' services to anyone struggling with an aggressive dog.
Just had our session with Rob helping us with our rescue Staffy 'Maisy'. Maisy would pull on the lead and lunge at other dogs. Rob has shown us a number of techniques that has completely changed her behavior in almost minutes.Rob has given us all the tools we need moving forward and will call on Leeds Dog School again if needed!

STOPPING BAD BEHAVIOUR FROM DAY ONE!
It’s tempting to put your Rescue dog’s bad behaviour down to its bad experience and tolerate barking, biting, pulling on the lead, and aggression for a time. This is not acceptable and unless these behaviour are not dealt with quickly your life will be a misery. Your dog needs stability and training and a routine provides this
ONE TO ONE BEHAVIOUR TRAINING
At Leeds Dog School we train your Rescue dog and you! We believe that one to one training with you and your dog at your home is the best way of training and stopping dog bad behaviour. This allows us to concentrate on your specific problems. All this means that you can follow up our training and make sure your dog does not slip back into its old ways.
It's vital to get them on the right track as soon as possible. Dogs learn quickly what behaviour is acceptable but they have to be taught.
We visit your home and we will go for a walk with you and your dog or puppy to ensure that you know exactly how to correct bad behaviour and to reward good behaviour. Ignoring dog bad behaviour is wrong it should always be corrected when behaving badly and only good behaviour should be rewarded.
RUNNING AWAY AND WILL NOT COME BACK
Poor recall is probably the most common dog bad behaviour that we come across. It makes it almost impossible to let your dog or puppy off the lead on a walk. The owner is constantly anxious that it will simply ignore them. We can teach you a few techniques that solve this and make going for a walk a pleasure.
PULLING ON THE LEAD
Pulling on the lead is uncomfortable for you and the for your dog. Most dogs unless properly trained are likely to pull on the lead and this makes going for a walk an unpleasant experience. Owners have often been advised to buy a harness. We do not recommend them unless you want your dog trained to pull a sledge like a husky! Similarly, choke chains are positively dangerous. We offer a number of methods which solve this permanently and easily.
JUMPING UP AT PEOPLE AT HOME OR ON A WALK
Our objective in dog training is to train our clients to control their dog or puppy. We are training the owner almost as much as the dog or puppy. Until you have the right techniques jumping up will always be a problem. Once your dog realises that you are in charge, this kind of behaviour stops. We will teach you the simple techniques quickly and easily.
Aggression in a dog whether to other dogs or to people is totally unacceptable. We have to teach our clients to be assertive and to know how to correct the dog to prevent aggression happening in the first place. Our training is not theoretical but practical and we give you practical techniques to take control.
LEEDS DOG SCHOOL STOP DOG BAD BEHAVIOUR
YOU CANNOT STOP BAD BEHAVIOUR WITH A TREAT-IT DOES NOT WORK!
Some trainers believe that giving a dog treats is the best way to train but in our opinion relying on treats exclusively just does not work. Your dog may learn how behave but only does it at because there's a treat at the end of it and many times treats just stop working. Essentially you are bribing the dog to behave properly. Bad behaviour by a dog makes an owner’s life a misery. Our dog training solves problems with bad behaviour as this is our speciality. Many of the problems are very common and we work with your dog and just as importantly, with you at your home or on a walk, to solve the problems.

I have a very hyper west highland terrier dog, he was an absolute nightmare to walk, his behaviour would start before leaving the house he would bark and jump at me it would take forever just to get the lead on,once out he would pull on the lead constantly, my arm would be aching from constantly trying to hold him back I actually dreaded taking him out instead of a leisurely stroll it became a battle of wills, which he undoubtedly won, he would bark at other dogs and start lunging towards them taking me with him, I was recommended Leeds dog school by a colleague, the instructor, Ollie, arrived. He didn't say anything he just observed the said behaviour, he then called the dog to heel and sit while he slipped a lead on l was amazed he just sat by his side with the lead on and waited , and off they both set off, the instructor explained everything to me as they walked and then handed it over to me, I followed his instructions and I am not exaggerating when I say how quick it was, I am absolutely amazed at just how quickly and easily my dog has responded, I am now actually looking forward to taking him for walks I honestly cannot recommend this company highly enough. Ollie was very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and delight to learn from.Neil Cross 19 Aug 2020

We took our five month Doberman for basic training and could not have asked for a better result. The knowledge and straightforward honest is exemplary and I cannot thank Ollie enough for for his guidance. Big thanks to Rob for the further development and history around the breed. We will be bringing her back as she matures for further training and lessons for us. Important to remember that you learn more than the dog does. Keep an open mind, and ignore the chaff you see on the Internet about positive reinforced training only.Matthew Farrell 14 Aug 2020
Correction is the one. Thanks gents.
Would highly recommend to anyone! Rob came today and worked his magic on my dog. He would bark at anything and everything, he didn't like men or other dogs and within the session rob stopped the behavior and its like I have a completely different dog! I really can't believe the difference.Lauren Ainsworth 30 Jul 2020
I honestly can’t thank Steve enough for his help today, he was so professional and friendly and within minutes knew where we were going wrong. He offered so much advice and resources as well working with us to demonstrate exactly how to correct our dog. He even brought along his own dog to assist in training so a special thank you to doggy Dax for being so patient with our Ted. In just a couple of hours we went from a dog petrified of people & dogs, who would bark and lunge at them, to a much calmer and more confident dog who could sit next to a new dog who was much bigger than him. Within three attempts he had practically perfected not barking at door knocking. We still have some work and practice to go but Steve gave us all the tools wegeorgia vickers 25 Jul 2020
need to do this as well his constant support should we need it. Thank you Steve you’ve been brilliant.
We have a puppy Golden Doodle and we are brand new to owning a dog. We contacted Leeds Dog School because our puppy was biting a lot - biting us and furniture. She is adorable but this was getting in the way of us building a good relationship with her. We first read various ways of stopping this behaviour on-line but there is such a lot of conflicting advice that we thought having a personal trainer come to the house and help us with our puppy on a one to one basis was the way forward. I read all the reviews on line and they sounded great but I was sceptical that a single session would resolve the problem. How wrong I was. Ruth came to our house and she was absolutely fabulous. She took time to explain how dogs' minds work and therefore what they do and don't respond to. She then taught us a very effective correction technique which worked immediately and has continued to work with success ever since. We were so impressed with Ruth - her professionalism, her knowledge, her love of dogs, her experience and her lovely easy manner and attitude - that we asked her to come back once our puppy could start walking outside of the house. She came back this week and taught us how to help our puppy walk securely and properly outdoors and she even helped us with some problems we have had in getting our puppy in the car. What Ruth has done is actually give us the confidence that we are in control, not the otherway around, and that we can love our dog to bits while also making sure she behaves properly. Our experience of this company - from the lovely gentleman who spoke to me initially on the telephone, to Ruth who is outstanding and to the after service in videos and messages is that it is a first rate company and we would highly recommend it to anyone.Sarah sheldon 25 Jul 2020
Rob is a remarkable trainer! We had had been seriously struggling with our 6 month old cane corso puppy. An hour with Rob has helped turn her behaviour around. We are now able to walk her without her lashing out at other dogs. He shown us how to train her to be unafraid of other dogs and to stop the negative behaviours. I highly recommend booking a session with Rob, he's a great guy and really knows what he's doing!!Gabrielle Derrick 25 Jul 2020

rob really helped teach me and my mum how to keep our two dogs calm around each other when they go for a visit. It got to the point where we didn’t allow them to be around each other as they didn’t listen to us at all but after 10 mins with rob they stayed calm and laid in their beds and have since been doing it on every visit! Super happy and can’t believe how quick the problem was solved 🙂kerrie Brown 18 Jul 2020
Rob came today to help to assist me with my lovely German Shepherd dogs .He has already made an improvement in the balance of the pack. Rob looked at the dogs as a whole not just individually. Rob was clear, deciciive and calm.Rob has helped me to be a better leader ,which in turn helps all three of my dogs. Rob has the best interests of all the dogs at heart . Rob took on board my own views and has now given me some tools to improve the quality of time spent in my dogs company.I have already seen an improvement in the dogs behaviour.
