We called Leeds Dog School for help with our 9 month old Boston Staffie cross we were struggling to walk him as he pulled constantly on the lead, we also needed help with him jumping all over us when we came home or when we were sat on the sofa trying to watch the TV. Ruth came to visit us and taught us how to deal with Reggie jumping up at everyone and within minutes it was clear to see that this was working. Ruth also came with us for a walk and taught us how to stop Reggie pulling like a train I am so pleased as I can now walk Reggie without being pulled all over. I would highly recommend Leeds Dog School if you are struggling with your pooch
Ruth is amazing, she has given us the best advice on walking our two rescue terridoodles aged 11 months. I used to cross over the road and avoid other people and dogs but now I am more confident and proud to go exploring with them. We had so much advice from other dog owners but none of it worked for us. Within the session with Ruth we had learned so much and was able to practice and get it right! I'm so pleased to have met Ruth and to be giving my dogs a second chance in a forever home.
Patch, our newly adopted rescue springador, did not take to my husband John at all, barking and growling as soon as he appeared and then running away into another room. Rob's techniques gave an immediate and sustained improvement and the relationship is now good. Time for 'walkies' training next and looking forward to Rob's input again.
We rescued our dog in May and he became very aggressive within a few weeks, he's bitten us a number of times, we had training with a previous trainer and didn't seem to work, Rob came around and within half an hour had shown our dog he was boss and taught us how to become the boss! We don't need any other sessions but we are going to book some others to progress further!
We met Rob today with our very difficult rescue Saluki. Rob was positive and reassuring and we saw an immediate improvement with Casper. We know there is work to continue with but we are confident that we have made that elusive, important first step today and are enormously relieved and impressed. Would wholeheartedly recommend Robs' services to anyone struggling with an aggressive dog.
Just had our session with Rob helping us with our rescue Staffy 'Maisy'. Maisy would pull on the lead and lunge at other dogs. Rob has shown us a number of techniques that has completely changed her behavior in almost minutes.Rob has given us all the tools we need moving forward and will call on Leeds Dog School again if needed!

STOPPING BAD BEHAVIOUR FROM DAY ONE!
It’s tempting to put your Rescue dog’s bad behaviour down to its bad experience and tolerate barking, biting, pulling on the lead, and aggression for a time. This is not acceptable and unless these behaviour are not dealt with quickly your life will be a misery. Your dog needs stability and training and a routine provides this
ONE TO ONE BEHAVIOUR TRAINING
At Leeds Dog School we train your Rescue dog and you! We believe that one to one training with you and your dog at your home is the best way of training and stopping dog bad behaviour. This allows us to concentrate on your specific problems. All this means that you can follow up our training and make sure your dog does not slip back into its old ways.
It's vital to get them on the right track as soon as possible. Dogs learn quickly what behaviour is acceptable but they have to be taught.
We visit your home and we will go for a walk with you and your dog or puppy to ensure that you know exactly how to correct bad behaviour and to reward good behaviour. Ignoring dog bad behaviour is wrong it should always be corrected when behaving badly and only good behaviour should be rewarded.
RUNNING AWAY AND WILL NOT COME BACK
Poor recall is probably the most common dog bad behaviour that we come across. It makes it almost impossible to let your dog or puppy off the lead on a walk. The owner is constantly anxious that it will simply ignore them. We can teach you a few techniques that solve this and make going for a walk a pleasure.
PULLING ON THE LEAD
Pulling on the lead is uncomfortable for you and the for your dog. Most dogs unless properly trained are likely to pull on the lead and this makes going for a walk an unpleasant experience. Owners have often been advised to buy a harness. We do not recommend them unless you want your dog trained to pull a sledge like a husky! Similarly, choke chains are positively dangerous. We offer a number of methods which solve this permanently and easily.
JUMPING UP AT PEOPLE AT HOME OR ON A WALK
Our objective in dog training is to train our clients to control their dog or puppy. We are training the owner almost as much as the dog or puppy. Until you have the right techniques jumping up will always be a problem. Once your dog realises that you are in charge, this kind of behaviour stops. We will teach you the simple techniques quickly and easily.
Aggression in a dog whether to other dogs or to people is totally unacceptable. We have to teach our clients to be assertive and to know how to correct the dog to prevent aggression happening in the first place. Our training is not theoretical but practical and we give you practical techniques to take control.
LEEDS DOG SCHOOL STOP DOG BAD BEHAVIOUR
YOU CANNOT STOP BAD BEHAVIOUR WITH A TREAT-IT DOES NOT WORK!
Some trainers believe that giving a dog treats is the best way to train but in our opinion relying on treats exclusively just does not work. Your dog may learn how behave but only does it at because there's a treat at the end of it and many times treats just stop working. Essentially you are bribing the dog to behave properly. Bad behaviour by a dog makes an owner’s life a misery. Our dog training solves problems with bad behaviour as this is our speciality. Many of the problems are very common and we work with your dog and just as importantly, with you at your home or on a walk, to solve the problems.

Rob is super professional and extremely knowledgeable his passion for what he does is great to see. Within minutes he had george like putty in his hand. We got Rob to deal with my mums dog who’s super sweet but a powerful dog. I spoke to my mum this morning and she passed on the following after our session with Rob.Matthew Marsh 06 Jul 2020
We’ve been on our walk just had the slip collar on and George was lovely to walk. It stopped him from nosying all the rubbish on the floor and also being too interested in cats.
We came across the usual pack of 3 dogs and I made him sit at the other side of the road and he ate his ham and cheese.
We also saw a spaniel which he hasn’t seen before. Again it was over the road but he showed more interest in it until I did the aha, sit and treats.
The hardest thing to remember is to pull up and not back. That foxes me I get all muddled, but we’ll get there I’m sure.
Also George is so interested in ham he forgets to wee and poo 😂😂
Thank you for your help x
When my daughter brought her puppy Bulldog over to my house it was complete bedlam with my dog & hers. They were manic & completely uncontrollable in their excitement. Within 5 minutes of Rob showing us what to do we saw a difference. Within 15 minutes they were calm & laid down. He was here for 1.5 hours & didn’t charge us anymore for staying longer. We didn’t get a chance to deal with my dogs unpredictable aggression so he is arranging for me to meet his dogs to deal with that too, at no extra cost. My dog can be fearful of men, which he picked up on immediately & he let me lead with my dog so as not to scare her. I really respected that because the last thing I wanted was for my dog to be scared. Would recommend highlypaula brown 05 Jul 2020

Rob came today to work with me and Luna. We were having problems with Luna jumping up at people and trying to get to other people and dogs on walks, not aggressively but wanting to play.Dave Clarke 30 Jun 2020
Rob showed me some great correct & reward techniques and Luna was a much calmer dog when he left.
Rob has given me the confidence to believe I can carry on with training, knowing he is there if I need him.
I have a 3 year old miniature schnauzer who barks at any person and any dog whenever we are out walking with her . Her barking is that bad it got to The point I was embarrassed to walk her . Met with rob today and wow , what a difference . Rob explained the methods used and how to correct , we then outside to put into practise . I can honestly say the correction method works brilliantly . I’m very confident in the methods that rob showed me and have no doubt that I will now be able to enjoy walking my mini schnauzer...... ? thanks again robKatie Mcbride 17 Jun 2020
We are originally from Leeds but live in Australia and recently purchased a puppy. Knowing the reputation of Leeds Dog School and having used Rob for other dogs when we lived in the UK, we knew we wanted their support for our new pup. Rob has provided support for our new puppy via the phone and video which has been so helpful. He provided a lot of advice and tips before we even received the dog and continues to train our dog. We really enjoy it too and couldn't recommend Leeds Dog School enough - you will not be disappointed!Rupa Chopra 10 Jun 2020

Today our Pomchi Bella had a 1 hour session with Rob - myself and my partner are over the moon with the results! We had tried EVERYTHING and I mean everything, to control Bella's excessive barking at people and dogs on walks. The things Rob taught us today were explained in a way which was so simple for us to then implement with her ourselves. We have just returned home from taking Bella on her first walk in a busy park post training session and it was the most stress free walk I have ever experienced with our lovely Bella, she is like a different dog. I started to get very anxious and embarrassed taking her by myself in busy areas, and would find myself avoiding people on walks just to save the hassle of her barking and lunging. This has been a huge break through for me personally and I can see how much more at ease Bella was. I have included two videos in this review of a before and after of Bella on a walk. Rob - we cannot thank you enough for your time with us today. Amazing!Saffron Madeleine 08 Jun 2020
We have just hired Rob to help train our rescue Chihuahua with barking at people entering the home. He explained his methods and how to implement them. He was very knowledgeable and professional. We didn't feel rushed at all in our session and it has certainly helped. Would definetly recommend and use again if needed.Richard M 31 May 2020

Having recently bought a working line doberman I found training in the usual manner I have found successful with my previous dogs was not working due to the high drive of the dog, he was not getting the mental as well physical exercise he was bred to need (as explained to me by Rob) I Googled doberman trainers and Rob dye came up I looked through the information available on past training and reviews and decided to give Leeds dog school a call, Rob came out to us and explained both the differences in breeding and how training should reflect this, we had a 1 to 1 session, he was very friendly and informative my dog seemed to take to him immediately and was very receptive to the form of training and techniques he used, I have been left with a huge amount of information and gained confidence in how to both train and handle my dog and options on what route I want to take for future training .John Coward 17 May 2020
