LABRADOR TRAINING THROUGHOUT YORKSHIRE

Labradors  really love to learn. Take advantage on their inbuilt trainability to get them trained as soon as possible. As they are large dogs they can and do pull on the lead and this is easy to stop by Leeds Dog School. Labs learn very qickly so the sooner you start the better!

LABRADOR OBEDIENCE TRAINING

Having an obedient Labrador makes ownership an absolute pleasure! At Leeds Dog School we will train your Lab to a high level in obedience. We also believe that this should involve the owner at every stage and so our training is one to one with you and your dog. It’s important that your dog obeys your commands and we work with you until you are confident in controlling your dog.

Training a Labrador is great fun as they are so eager to learn from the puppy stage.

Owners with obedient pets get more satisfaction and have a stronger bond with their pet. Having a dog that is well trained, obedient, happy, relaxed, responsive and easy for you to manage means you will get more pleasure from dog ownership.

  • Heel Work –  walk to heel on the lead
  • Heel Work – walk to heel off the lead
  • Recall - return to you when called
  • Down – “down” on command
  • Sit – dog will sit when you stop walking
  • Come –  come to you in the “frontal sit”

LABRADOR PUPPY TRAINING

puppy

Training your new puppy should be started as soon as possible from 8 weeks. You’ll be amazed just how quickly they learn and at a very early age and it’s just fun for them and they love it!

Leeds Dog Training School train your puppy on a 1-2-1 visit to your home in Yorkshire rather than in classes as we believe this is much more effective.

  • Toilet Training - we will show you the easiest way to toilet train your puppy
  • Crate Training - we will show you how to crate train your puppy
  • Biting - we will show you how to stop "mouthing" or biting
  • Destructive Behaviour - we will show you how to stop destructive behaviour

STOPPING BAD BEHAVIOUR BY YOUR LABRADOR

Some trainers believe that giving a dog treats is the best way to train but in our opinion relying on treats exclusively just does not work. Labradors in particular should not be trained exclusively with treats. Praise works just as well.

Your dog may learn how behave but only does it at because there's a treat at the end of it and many times treats just stop working. Essentially you are bribing the dog to behave properly.Bad behaviour by a dog makes an owner’s life a misery. Our dog training solves problems with bad behaviour as this is our speciality. Many of the problems are very common and we work with your dog and just as importantly, with you at your home or on a walk, to solve the problems.

  • Stop pulling on the lead
  • Stop lunging at other dogs
  • Stop barking at dogs & people
  • Stop jumping up at people
  • Stop aggression
  • Stop running away and not returning
  • Stop constant barking

Had our first session today with Rob. It's not rocket science what you learn, it's sensible and practice lessons in dog behaviour. We love our 2 year old black Labrador, but he runs rings around us, and we are too soft. Not anymore, Rob has show us how to gain control and correct Finley. So we have less stress with our dog. Looking forward to the next session.

I contacted Leeds Dog School for help in controlling our Labrador's incessant and aggressive barking at anyone who comes to the house.  It had reached the point where my own mother has stopped visiting because of the din my dog makes.  Rob came out and showed us a very simple technique which worked immediately and is easy for the whole family to implement and commit to.

Had this guy in my house less than 5 minutes and he had my 8 month old Labrador x Akita listening to what we said and also stopped her jumping up and chewing her lead. Absolutely amazing will definitely recommend him to anyone who need a dog trainer

I met Rob for the first time today with my 9 month old Labrador . I was a bit sceptical has ave been through lots of training sessions with various trainers and not much success. Rob was straight talking, no nonsense and extremely knowledgeable. He had my lab walking with him, obedient and showing him respect within minutes, something I had been trying months to do.

I couldn't recommend Rob and his team highly enough. Rob came to see us a little while ago to help us with our 5 month old Labrador who was being overly boisterous when meeting people and playing. Within minutes she was drastically better and the results have continued to be great!

Ruth came to work with us and our 11 month old Labrador, Barney. Barney is very boisterous and excitable, pulls heavily on the lead and barks constantly. In the time that Ruth was with us, she taught us how to correct his bad behaviours and managed to get him to walk nicely on the lead! We can't wait to use all of the techniques Ruth showed us. Thanks for all your help.

I have never written a google review before, but felt in this instance it was justified.Called Rob to help us train our Labrador puppy, who is lovely, but will not do what we ask her i.e.pulls on lead, jumps up and mouths people and will not come back when called if people or dogs are around. Rob had the problems sorted within minutes and we now have a dog that is a pleasureto take for a walk.Don't waste your money going to puppy classes that are a complete waste of time, just ring Rob fora 1-2-1 lesson. I would have no hesitation in recommending him
