We have trained German Shepherds for many years in obedience and as security dogs. We train German Shepherd dogs and puppies throughout Yorkshire
THE GERMAN SHEPHERD
German Shepherd training is vital.Extremely loyal and intelligent, the German Shepherd is not only a great choice as a family pet, but they are extremely versatile in a working environment too. Because they are so intelligent, German Shepherds need lots of mental stimulation and physical exercise to be truly happy, well-balanced dogs. They also need to be correctly trained and handled with a firm hand so they know who is the boss!
THE GERMAN SHEPHERD OBEDIENCE TRAINING
Obedience is vital for your German Shepherd. Having an obedient dog makes ownership of your pet an absolute pleasure! At Leeds Dog School our German Shepherd training will train your dog to a high level in obedience. We also believe that this should involve the owner at every stage and so our training is one to one with you and your dog. It’s important that your dog obeys your commands and respects you otherwise they can be a nightmare! Owners with an obedient German Shepherd get more satisfaction and have a stronger bond with their pet. Having a dog that is well trained, obedient, happy, relaxed, responsive and easy for you to manage means you will get more pleasure from dog ownership.

STOPPING BAD BEHAVIOUR
Some trainers believe that giving a dog treats is the best way to train but in our opinion relying on treats exclusively just does not work. Your dog may learn how behave but only does it at because there's a treat at the end of it and many times treats just stop working. Essentially you are bribing the dog to behave properly.Bad behaviour by a dog makes an owner’s life a misery. Our dog training solves problems with bad behaviour as this is our speciality. Many of the problems are very common and we work with your dog and just as importantly, with you at your home or on a walk, to solve the problems.
- Stop pulling on the lead
- Stop lunging at other dogs
- Stop barking at dogs & people
- Stop jumping up at people
- Stop aggression
- Stop running away and not returning
- Stop constant barking
- Stop barking at the door
GERMAN SHEPHERD PUPPY TRAINING
As well as adult German Shepherd training we also offer puppy training. Puppy Training of your our new German Shepherd puppy should be done as as soon as possible. It’s just fun for them and they love it! We train them from just a few weeks. The video shows a very young puppy 's early training. They are taught obedience just the same as an adult dog. Then we train you so that you can keep up with it!
Training the owner is very important as you must learn the commands and the proper way to correct your puppy. This why all our training is 1-2-1 with your dog and we do not offer classes. We believe that classes involving a number of young puppies can be very distracting for your dog.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If your dog is, jumping up at people or you, stealing food, destructive, running out of the door, barking constantly, aggressive to humans or dogs and more … you need home 1-2-1 home training. Two hours is usually enough to cure most problems because we train you to take control and then you don’t need us anymore.
We train throughout Yorkshire. We come to your home wherever you live in Yorkshire and work with you and your dog or puppy on a 1-2-1 basis.
We train all breeds of dog from "designer" dogs such as the cockapoo or labradoodle through to working dogs such as spaniels and terriers. We also specialise in larger dogs such as German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans, all Mastiffs.
Pulling on the lead , running away and refusing to return, and barking and lunging at other dogs are the most common problems we deal with. We go for a walk with you and we always choose a busy park and usually stop this in an hour.
Unlike some trainers, we only use “treats” in some circumstances particularly with high level obedience training. They are over used and eventually do not work with problem behaviour. Our method is correction and then reward with praise. Enticing or “bribing” a dog is counter-productive and they soon spot how to manipulate the situation. The most important training, however, is the owner training so that you can control your dog.
The short answer is NO. We simply do not think they work. There are too a many puppies and they just want to play with each other and are totally distracted. The owners cannot possibly get individual attention in an hour with 8 or 10 or more people in a class. We only offer 1-2-1 puppy training in your home because it’s quicker, more effective, and cheaper!

Rob has done a training session with me and my husky this afternoon and it was amazing. I was expecting to be dissapointed as my husky thinks he rules the roost but Rob had him obeying my commands in less than 10 minutes. I am looking forward to more training for us both. Thank you.wolf craft 07 Feb 2019

He shared his knowledge with us very well and was very clear with what to do. We had been trying training tricks that we had seen online for weeks before and nothing worked. However, within not even a minute of him teaching our puppy, she was completely obeying. We will definitely be back when we want to teach her recall!!! Thank you 😊Amy Cashmore 20 Jan 2019
After an initial telephone conversation with a lovely gentleman at Leeds Dog School , Rob came to see our 9 month old Labrador who was jumping up, stealing food, and making it difficult for me to leave the room without him barking or trying to follow me. Rob had an immediate impact . Everything he said would happen actually happened !!Kathryn Shaw 13 Jan 2019

We have a 9week old golden retriever who was generally being a naughty puppy but we didn’t really know how to address the bad behaviour (biting, constant crying in the crate, jumping up etc.).We found Leeds Dog School on-line and given the 5star reviews from everyone, we decided to give them a call. A few days later Rob come round and literally within 10minutes we noticed a change in our puppies behaviour through us leaning simple but effective techniques.Adam Juniper 02 Jan 2019
Rob visited me and my 13 month Cocker Spaniel this afternoon and he was brilliant. He helped us set up the foundations of training so we can eventually let him off the lead. I instantly noticed a difference in his behaviour and I now enjoy walking him without him virtually pulling my arm off! I would recommend Rob to anyone, he really is excellent.Jan Brook 21 Dec 2018
