Skipton Dog Training  covers all the area with our 1-2-1 dog training and puppy training. All our training is done at your home and on a walk.

Skipton Dog Training can work miracles with difficult or disobedient dogs and puppies. We believe that only 1-2-1  training in your home gets fast and effective results. Our training shows you how to take control your dog and to give you the tools do it. There are no weeks of classes, we come to your home in Skipton or go on a walk in the local park with you and your dog.

Robert Dye

Rob Dye has hands on experience of training dogs from his work with many of the best trainers in the UK and Europe. Rob has worked with trainers in Germany and the Czech Republic honing his skill in training dogs.

Over the last 15 years Ruth Spellacy has studied  many different training methods including attending courses such as “Thinking Like Canines” (TLC) by the world famous Barbara Sykes. She also gained a distinction in and has a Diploma in Animal Behaviour.

Bad behaviour by a dog makes an owner’s life a misery. Our dog training solves problems with bad behaviour as this is our speciality. Many of the problems are very common and we work with your dog in Skipton and just as importantly, with you at your home or on a walk, to solve the problems.

  • Stop pulling on the lead
  • Stop lunging at other dogs
  • Stop barking at dogs & people
  • Stop jumping up at people
  • Stop aggression
  • Stop running away and not returning
  • Stop constant barking

A disobedient dog can make going for a walk or having visitors to your home an absolute nightmare!. With his many years experience in dog training, our Skipton  Dog Training School trainer  works with you and your dog to ensure your dog is highly obedient and that you know the commands and how to put them into practise. The training is always 1-2-1 we do not work in classes.

  • Heel Work –  walk to heel on the lead
  • Heel Work – walk to heel off the lead
  • Down – “down” on command
  • Sit – dog will sit when you stop walking
  • Come –  come to you in the “frontal sit”

Our approach to puppy training differs from many others as we only train on a 1-2-1 basis at your home. In our opinion, puppy training classes whilst good fun for the puppy are much less effective than individual training for the puppy and particularly for the owner. The puppies in classes are often distracted and are more interested in playing with the other dogs. In classes of 8 to 12 puppies it’s not possible to give the puppy or the owner individual attention

It’s tempting to put your Rescue dog’s bad behaviour down to its bad experience and tolerate barking, biting, pulling on the lead, and aggression for a time. This is not acceptable and unless these behaviour are dealt with quickly your life will be a misery. We train your Rescue dog and you! We believe that one to one training with you and your dog at your home is the best way of training and stopping dog bad behaviour.

Our dog training covers Skipton and surrounding areas. We visit your home in all these areas in Skipton and surroundings and also in your local park or where you normally walk your dog. This is where the problems occur and that's the best place to stop them.

Thanks to Isaac Ollie and Rob .... awesome team. Real improvements with my dogs. Guys are helpful and supportive even after residential ended... really like these guys and seem honest knowledgeable and very very nice bunch, down to earth and good teachers ... working towards high obedience training for my gsd dogs. Thanks for being supportive... and teaching me how to carry on the good work. Definitely recommend and the kennel people at Laburnum Kennels they were super too (had never kennelled my dogs before). Not easy to hand your dogs over to strangers but these guys/Kennels made it feel easy, like a home from home. THANKS FOR BEING SO DECENT AND FRIENDLY ❤️❤️❤️ Would recommend and use again 😋😋

I contacted Leeds dog school for help with some basic obedience issues that we were having with our Dobermann puppy.
Ollie arrived promptly and was able to immediately identify the areas we needed to work on.
He was able to demonstrate and explain a simple system to communicate with our dog more effectively and did so in a clear, concise no frills way.
In the 24hrs that have followed we’ve seen a huge improvement in our dogs compliance and in our consistency.
    We’ll definitely be returning customers.

Our 6yr old Jack Russell Cross, had started to display aggressive tendencies on the lead to passers by and some others dogs but was fine off the lead. We had started to get really stressed about taking him for walks as living semi-urban we often have to get passed lots of people to get to open spaces.
Immediately Ollie showed us how to get Oscar back under control and us back in charge and take the emotion out of the walk. We now have to practise but I just feel so relieved that we can now walk Oscar stress free again after just one session. Ollie had also sent us lots of You Tube videos to study and is there for any future questions.

Fantastic results with my Dobermann pup 'Judah' being trained with Rob and Issac for the last four weeks. I am astonished at how much has been achieved in such a short period of time. This was Issac's first major project and all credit to Robs training technique what an amazing job you have done! Thank you all, Jack, Ollie, Rob and Issac for producing an amazing pup. See you soon for round 2. All the best, Jeff Evans.

Ollie came to us this week to help us with a very over playful Boxer puppy ! Our dog Max took US for a walk rather than the other way around 😂 Ollie showed us the right techniques and helped us to understand what we were doing wrong, after just one session Max is like a totally different dog! We can not thank Ollie enough for what he has done in such a short time THANKS AGAIN DANIELLE AND BEN (and of course Max )

We would highly recommend Leeds Dog School! Our trainer Ollie was fantastic with our pup Otis and we saw an instant change in his ability to walk to heel on a loose lead and being able to walk past another dog without reaction! It’s great they come to see you in your home and go on a walk with you so they understand the issues you may be facing. Overall a fantastic experience and we feel so reassured and confident with the advice we have been given and we know if we have any questions we can contact Ollie to support us further 🙂

I had one lesson with Ollie yesterday to address our bull terrier’s pulling on the lead. Her reaction was like a miracle. I have been out on walk with her today, practiced the technique I’ve been told to do and she’s like a new dog. I have not returned home drowned in sweat and absolutely tired after first time ever. It’s amazing what seeing someone else controlling your dog can do to your way of thinking and confidence with controlling your dog. Thank you.

Ollie came to our house and we went on a walk with our reactive German Shepherd. Within just an hour we were able to see progression. Very great approach, great communication and service. Would recommend to anyone with training needs!

Ollie was great with my 16 week rottweiler. From the moment he came in to when he left was very informative & confident which is always reassuring. He’s kept in contact and provided me with much more content and information regarding the subjects we spoke about. Highly recommend

Oliver was brilliant in helping us with our new dog who is a professional at escaping from the lead and refusing to go for walks. Oliver has helped give our confidence back and now Jake is walking to heal! We are amazed! Thank you Oliver we can now enjoy walks once again! Nicola

My Jack Russell Terrier Bubbles was pulling on her walks and aggressive to other dogs after one session she walks nicely and during the session was able walk nicely past another dog. Ollie gave me some great tips and on our next walk I could already see the improvements. I would absolutely recommend the Leeds Dog School for any training requirements.

Ollie was brilliant he came and helped us with our 7 month old English Bull Terrier Edward who was pulling on the lead and pulling to other dogs and jumping up. He took us out with Edward and showed us how to stop the pulling and correct his behaviour. He was extremely helpful with the information he told us including what collar was best to use and train him. Definitely recommend 🙂

We contacted Leeds Dog School as our 2yr old male German Shepherd was pulling on the lead and very very reactive to other dogs. We hadn't had the dog too long so no idea on his past history. Steve stayed for over 3 hrs on his first visit and managed to get my dog walking along side his own which was amazing. However, my dog reverted back to his old ways despite using the correct technique so Steve came back a few week later.. We didn't make any further progress on that occasion so Steve suggested we go to see Rob for further help. We visited Rob who helped us sort out the situation on the day. However my dog is still reactive to other dogs and we are continuing to work on this. I have found Steve and Rob to be very helpful and genuinely want us to succeed to sort our issues out. They have both offered to assist further if we need it which I find reassuring. To me this is over and beyond what a lot of trainers would do. Thanks Guys.

Rob & Ollie are fantastic. We have a Patterdale Terrier who is 13 months and from 8 weeks old we have been training our dog. At 8 months our dog started doing what he wanted, jumping up at and nipping people, the trainer we were using was no help at all, with the methods he was using. At 11 months my wife wanted rid of the dog until we met Rob and Ollie. Ollie came to the house for an hour and our dog was a different animal, 4 weeks later our daughter wanted some additional guidance. So we had a second visit to refine what we were doing. Rob did the training this time and within less than a minute had our dog doing what he wanted. Rob then spent time with us to go through what we were doing wrong. He showed us how to stop our dog from barking at other dog and houses when out and to walk to heel without pulling. Unlike other trainers they do not turn up in a brand new vehicle with all the fancy trimmings, what they do is show you how to train your dog to do what you want it to do. They don't rip you off and will tell you if you are wasting your money, they don't want you to sign up to weeks and weeks of training or into a training pack. What they did for us in 2 hours was unbelievable, all you have to do is listen to what they tell you and be consistent with your dog, Thanks Rob and Ollie

Ollie came round and showed us a tremendous number of techniques to improve our dobermann pup's behaviour including walking to heel, recall, correcting bad behaviour such as jumping up and picking up objects. Picked up a lot of valuable insight and practical advice and our dog enjoyed learning an impressive amount of knowledge in such a short space of time. Definitely recommended and we will be working with these guys again in the future.
