We specialise in Doberman training and Doberman puppy training. We have an unrivalled knowledge about training these very special dogs. We train throughout Yorkshire
Dobermans are calm and friendly dogs that form very strong bonds with their owners. They are a good choice for families as long as they are correctly trained and well socialised from a young age which is vital where this breed is concerned, they become valued members of a family and get very attached to children in a household. Doberman training is essential for these special dogs.
Dobies are renowned for their natural ability to protect and guard which they will do as soon as they settle into a new home. Dobermans tend to form a very strong bond with one person although they are always friendly with other members of the family. They are known to be quite wary of strangers which is a natural reaction for a dog that was originally bred to guard people and protect their property.
Obedience is vital for your Doberman. Having an obedient Doberman makes ownership of your pet an absolute pleasure! At Leeds Dog School our Doberman training will train your Doberman to a high level in obedience. We also believe that this should involve the owner at every stage and so our Doberman training is one to one with you and your dog. It’s important that your dog obeys your commands and respects you otherwise they can be a nightmare! Owners with an obedient Doberman get more satisfaction and have a stronger bond with their pet. Having a dog that is well trained, obedient, happy, relaxed, responsive and easy for you to manage means you will get more pleasure from dog ownership.

STOPPING BAD BEHAVIOUR
Some trainers believe that giving a dog treats is the best way to train but in our opinion relying on treats exclusively just does not work. Your dog may learn how behave but only does it at because there's a treat at the end of it and many times treats just stop working. Essentially you are bribing the dog to behave properly.Bad behaviour by a dog makes an owner’s life a misery. Our dog training solves problems with bad behaviour as this is our speciality. Many of the problems are very common and we work with your dog and just as importantly, with you at your home or on a walk, to solve the problems.
- Stop pulling on the lead
- Stop lunging at other dogs
- Stop barking at dogs & people
- Stop jumping up at people
- Stop aggression
- Stop running away and not returning
- Stop constant barking
- Stop barking at the door
DOBERMAN PUPPY TRAINING
As well as adult Doberman training we also offer Doberman puppy training. Puppy Training of your our new Doberman puppy should be done as as soon as possible. It’s just fun for them and they love it! We train them from just a few weeks. They are taught obedience just the same as an adult dog. Then we train you so that you can keep up with it.
Training the owner is very important as you must learn the commands and the proper way to correct your puppy. This why all our training is 1-2-1 with your dog and we do not offer classes. We believe that classes involving a number of young puppies can be very distracting for your dog.
PUPPY TRAINING CHECK LIST
If your dog is, jumping up at people or you, stealing food, destructive, running out of the door, barking constantly, aggressive to humans or dogs and more … you need home 1-2-1 home training. Two hours is usually enough to cure most problems because we train you to take control and then you don’t need us anymore.
We train throughout Yorkshire. We come to your home wherever you live in Yorkshire and work with you and your dog or puppy on a 1-2-1 basis.
We train all breeds of dog from "designer" dogs such as the cockapoo or labradoodle through to working dogs such as spaniels and terriers. We also specialise in larger dogs such as German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans, all Mastiffs.
Pulling on the lead , running away and refusing to return, and barking and lunging at other dogs are the most common problems we deal with. We go for a walk with you and we always choose a busy park and usually stop this in an hour.
Unlike some trainers, we only use “treats” in some circumstances particularly with high level obedience training. They are over used and eventually do not work with problem behaviour. Our method is correction and then reward with praise. Enticing or “bribing” a dog is counter-productive and they soon spot how to manipulate the situation. The most important training, however, is the owner training so that you can control your dog.
The short answer is NO. We simply do not think they work. There are too a many puppies and they just want to play with each other and are totally distracted. The owners cannot possibly get individual attention in an hour with 8 or 10 or more people in a class. We only offer 1-2-1 puppy training in your home because it’s quicker, more effective, and cheaper!

Rob came round with relatively short notice. We have just introduced a new 9 week old puppy into the house, who just wanted to be all over our older dog. After a short period of time, Rob taught us some new techniques for helping to set some new rules for the puppy and the difference has already been massive. We will be calling on Rob again, when we are able to take the dog out in public. Thanks again, RossRoss Nadin 11 Dec 2018
Just had our first session, so impressed with how it has gone! The hour started with our 6 month old GSD ripping a hole in Rob's jumper and ended with a calm puppy. Just successfully mopped the living room floor with a spectator rather than "helper". Looking forward to the next session. Thanks so much!Freya Shaw 20 Nov 2018
I contacted Leeds Dog School for help in controlling our Labrador's incessant and aggressive barking at anyone who comes to the house. It had reached the point where my own mother has stopped visiting because of the din my dog makes. Rob came out and showed us a very simple technique which worked immediately and is easy for the whole family to implement and commit to. I would recommend Leeds Dog School for any of your dog's issues that need putting right.Leach Ann-Marie 19 Nov 2018
Had our first session today with Rob. It's not rocket science what you learn, it's sensible and practice lessons in dog behaviour. We love our 2 year old black Labrador, but he runs rings around us, and we are too soft. Not anymore, Rob has show us how to gain control and correct Finley. So we have less stress with our dog. Looking forward to the next session.Tracey Oliver 30 Oct 2018
Rob came to our house to help us with our 5 year old Doberman. In less than 15 minutes he had stopped her barking when people came to the door. We've seen a massive improvement in her behaviour already since he came and can't wait for him to come back to help us tackle her response to joggers, cyclists, etc.Pat Mangion 14 Oct 2018
Saw Rob yesterday for the first time. On the phone I was advised that it would take one short lesson to get my Miniature Schnauzer to become obedient. Naturally, I thought 'yeah, right!'. The main problems were him barking at people who were walking past the garden and barking at other dogs and people on walks. Rob sorted these issues with ease.....how wrong was I!Phillip Barnard 03 Oct 2018
Brilliant time spent with Rob who has helped make a massive difference with our cockerpoo puppy Reggie - who can be pretty bonkers at times. Rob sorted issues we were having with him straight away! It was amazing how obidiant Reggie became so quickly. Rob was really lovely, and worth every penny!! I would hugely recommend Rob and the Leeds Dog School.Megan Howard 23 Sep 2018
We met Rob today with our very difficult rescue Saluki. Rob was positive and reassuring and we saw an immediate improvement with Casper. We know there is work to continue with but we are confident that we have made that elusive, important first step. Would wholeheartedly recommend Robs' services to anyone struggling with an aggressive dog.James Parry 04 Sep 2018
