BRITISH BULLDOG TRAINING THROUGHOUT YORKSHIRE
British Bulldogs can be very stubborn although they can be very friendly, aggression to other dogs can be a problem. Pulling on the lead and stealing food is a common problem. Having trained many of these superb dogs over the years we are familiar with the problems and can deal with them quickly and effectively.
The Bulldog has been around for over 500 years, but it’s changed a lot since its earliest days in the 1500s. The breed used to be a lot taller than its squat, present-day relative, and Bulldogs earned their name as “bull-baiters.”
As the centuries wore on, dog-fighting and bull-baiting was outlawed in England and replaced by dog shows. People began to select dogs for shorter legs and bigger heads, and the modern bulldog eventually emerged: a thicker, squatter version than before.
BRITISH BULLDOG OBEDIENCE TRAINING
At Leeds Dog School we will train your dog to a high level in obedience. We also believe that this should involve the owner at every stage and so our training is one to one with you and your dog. It’s important that your dog obeys your commands and we work with you until you are confident in controlling your dog.
Owners with obedient pets get more satisfaction and have a stronger bond with their pet. Owner training is vital so that the owner can enjoy having such a dominant pet.
A well-trained British Bulldog is safer to have around family, children, friends, and other dogs.

STOPPING BAD BEHAVIOUR BY YOUR BRITISH BULLDOG
Some trainers believe that giving a dog treats is the best way to train but in our opinion relying on treats exclusively just does not work. Your dog may learn how behave but only does it at because there's a treat at the end of it and many times treats just stop working. Essentially you are bribing the dog to behave properly. Our British Bulldog dog training solves problems with bad behaviour as this is our speciality. Many of the problems are very common and we work with your dog and just as importantly, with you at your home or on a walk, to solve any problems you may have.
- Stop pulling on the lead
- Stop lunging at other dogs
- Stop barking at dogs & people
- Stop jumping up at people
- Stop aggression
- Stop running away and not returning
- Stop constant barking
